Default Workhorse is cutting out??

Hi everybody, I am new to the forum and the golf cart world. I recently purchased a 2002 workhorse with the 350cc robin engine. My question is I tried adjusting the governor on the rear axle as described on this and other forums but no matter where it is when I run full throttle on the cart it cuts out like it is hitting a rev limiter or perhaps Running out of fuel?? Any ideas how to fix this? I replaced the fuel lines checked the pump and filter, cleared the "vacuum" line from the crank case to the carb and adjusted the valves. Still the same problem, any help is greatly appreciated

Ok I went to the shop today, pulled the carb off cleaned everything up and removed the jets blew air through all passages and re installed it. I backed the governor on the axle off a fair amount and started it up and still have the same issue. I also cleaned the little screen on the fuel pump again to be sure that wasn't the problem.

Your carb could be starving, but i'm not positive. Hopefully, some of the gurus will chime in.

Is it really cutting off or is it backing off?
Gas carts will kind of ease off when the governor kicks in.

I checked the pick up tube in the tank and it is in good shape. Not sure where to go next. It a acts just like it is hitting a rev limiter in my opinion, that's the best way I know to describe it. It builds Rome then once you get half throttle or so it starts dying then takes off and so on repetidly it is a stock cart on 18" tires and I don't think it runs more than about 12-15 mph tops????

Sounds like you are hitting the Governor. They feel like a sudden power drop, then pick up,drop off again....

That's exactly what it acts like but how come it doesn't change when I adjust the governor spring on the rear end? Doesn't seem to matter if the nut is cranked all the way in or out on the spring still runs the same???

Does the speed change with govenor adjustment? You could also have a stretched throttle-cable,and it might not be opening fully. But it sounds more like govenor from your explanation.Hope this helps.
