cart bucks when taking off

My neighbor has a 2010 48v txt and starting a couple weeks ago when he first stepped on the throttle the cart would buck or skip until he got up a little speed then it would seem to run fine but this has gotten worst and now it still bucks when first taking off but now there is barley enough power to continue to accelerate and he only reaches a fraction of his previous performance.

What are your thoughts?

I see different controllers for the TXT48s and the PDS carts but are the motors still the same?

BAD BATTERY (ies)
Put a meter on it and drive. What do you read at a standstill? and when it is chattering trying to move.
By the way that annoying chatter is destroying the contacts on the main solenoid as it makes and breaks the main power connection repeatedly.
