Ezgo PDS 48v conversion
Just did the 48v conversion and upgraded controller and solenoid on my ezgo pds cart...it has a 6 inch lift, 23 inch tires and a rear seat...I added 2 more 6 volts as my battery pack is only 2 months old...I installed an alltrax xct48500 controller and upgraded the solenoid to the 400a one from scottyb at carts unlimited...with the factory controller and 36 volts I was running 18mph is what the gps clocked and after 48v upgrade, 500 amp controller, 400a solenoid and 2 gauge wiring I'm getting about 22 mph...I figured I should get a little more speed out of it...any suggestions on controller programming to get more speed or any pointers of things to check why I did get more speed? I'm still running stock 36v pds motor but I figured with all the upgrades I'd get a little more speed than 4mph..any help is appreciated thanks a ton!

Re: Ezgo PDS 48v conversion
Re you sure you are putting 48v to the motor?
The speed you report is the same as 36 volts. Measure the voltage at controller B- to B+ |

Re: Ezgo PDS 48v conversion
A stock PDS motor will spin faster than 6500RPM with 48V applied and 6500RPM is 28MPH on stock height (18") tires. Mathematically, your 23" tires ought to give your cart 28% more speed (36MPH), but they also reduce the torque by 22% throughout the RPM spectrum, so it won't reach that speed.
Low pressure type tires (Max inflation pressure <10PSI) take more torque to turn, so if your tires are that type, the top speed will be further reduced. If possible, post screen captures of the controller settings from Toolkit program. |

Re: Ezgo PDS 48v conversion
You are allowing the stock motor to access 500 amps? If stock motor turn the amps down to 450. That 500a max actually allows 570 amp peaks. Too much access for the stock motor.
