2007 EZGO Freedom SE TXT PDS 36V

Hello all,
My EZGO golf cart runs with the key in the off position (everything works, lights included), batter charge indicator also stays on. I have replaced the ignition switch with no change, I have checked the continuity of the key switch and the FWD/REV switch also. There are 3 wires on the + battery terminal, the charger light/ignition comes on when I connect the 10gauge red wire and (it is paired with a 10gauge black wire on the - battery terminal) is the source of the power turning on the battery/switch. I tried tracing it but it's in a covered loom that goes to the back left of the cart. The cart is equipped with lights/ street legal package. I'm frustrated because I need to keep my kids off of at times and they are too smart! Used to be an intermittent problem but is now chronic. No change in performance. Any advice appreciated, thinking should be a simple fix but need an expert.

Sorry, only advice I've got is get a chain...my kids are smart too and they'd figure anything out if left to their own evil plans! Lol!! Good luck!

Is the keyswitch 3 position? (Off-On-Lights)
Or is there a separate switch for lights? If so, somebody may have been doing some re-wiring.

Setting the accessories aside, if the cart runs without the keyswitch being turned on, there is a short between the wires attached to J1 Pins 8 & 9 on the controller.
