Default My batteries are probably shot, looking to confirm

I have a 99 EZ Go TXT, powered by six 6-volt batteries. The cart was running fine through late fall and into the winter. We then store it in the basement. Unheated, but temperate, never gets below 50.

Would not move yesterday when we tried to fire it up, so checked the voltages.

Two are 5.9v, two are ~1.4v, and two are dead. Dead dead. 0.0v. (Batteries are from May 2011.) Briefly plugged into charger, started hearing bubbling in one of the 1.4v batteries, so disconnected.

Based on this I expect 4 of the batteries are gone for good. Though they were all properly watered, and there was no obvious signs of sulfation or anything.

I would be happy to learn that I'm overreacting, but if so, I would like some advice on how to bring the batteries safely back to life.

If they are gone, is there a problem with replacing just the 4 new ones? The 5.9v reading was not unexpected (to me), so can they mix in with the new ones?

Actually you did a Great job taking care of them that long, but YES they definitely need replaced. 6 years of service is pretty much max.

if you dont replace all of them-the damaged ones will bring the good ones down to the level of the bad ones....
