Any ideas why the cables are still getting hot enough to melt?

Need help again with the 1986 ez go marathon. Changed all the battery cables and upgraded the cables to the resistor but they still all get hot enough to melt the insulation on just a short ride and now the pedal sticks and the cart lunges and won't go slow. Please help

That much heat is from lots of current flow. Resistance somewhere(bad connections). Brakes sticking or overloading cart can cause this. Also, could be a bad motor. Jack up the rear and engaged throttle. Spin freely and coast after you left off? If the pedal sticks to the floor, the sitting could have broken.
