Default Siezed 36V DCS motor

For my 1998 TXT DCS golf cart, my motor has seized. I have another thread about why my golf cart does not roll, but I thought I should start a new thread since this is a more specific topic.

Does anyone have any advice, drawing, pictures, etc of how to take apart the 36V motor on my cart? I have it off the cart already, but don't know what bolts to take out to get to the brushes.

I appreciate all input

Thanks
Rick

No kidding! I only watched 'till I saw the armature put in, but no brush springs, couldn't watch any more...

With the help of a heat gun and a hammer, I got the end cover to separate from the motor housing and in the process, I freed it up. While I have it open, it there anything in particular that I should clean/lube?

Good to hear!

Apply some motor oil to the laminated metal surfaces of the rotor (armature), and the laminated metal surfaces of the stator (field). That should help slow down oxidation in the near future. Your motor may be ok, if there is no damage to the windings or their insulation.

Just any motor oil that I have sitting around my garage?

I figured out what the armature is, but can't find the laminated metal fields in the tech manual. I am assuming that they are the metal pieces that surround the armature?

Should I lubricate the bearing?

Don't molest the bearing at all, all you can do is shorten its life. And for the oil thing, just some motor oil on a rag & wipe down the bare steel that's rusty.

I appreciate all the advice. I will oil it up tomorrow and put it back together. Hopefully, it works good enough to last me through the end of the year so that I can put off buying a new, high torque, motor until I can afford it.
