Getting sparks when I hook up battery
I have a 2000 CC. the battery cable sparks when I connect it. The F-W is in neutral and the key is off. I would think there shouldn't be anything drawing power to cause sparking. There is a post about this from 2010 but I hope someone has more current information

Do you have a 48 to 12 converter?
Some will spark when connected. |

Re: Getting sparks when I hook up battery
Yes I have a 12v converter, thats something for me to think about. This started because I had to replace the forward-reverse switch because it overheated and would not go forward. I don't know what caused this but because of it I am suspicious of the battery sparking.

Re: Getting sparks when I hook up battery
If You still have incandescent (40w-100w) bulbs around, just stand one on the battery post and touch the cable on the threaded portion of the bulb for about 10 seconds.
You should then be able to put the cable on the battery post without sparks. |

Re: Getting sparks when I hook up battery
The lightbulb did what you said. Now my problem remains, no forward motor power. The relay clicks but no motor. Reverse works fine. I'm going to start a new thread for no forward Thanks

Re: Getting sparks when I hook up battery
If You have a Series cart, that is usually caused by a failure on the "reduced speed" reverse circuit on micro-switch #3.
You can try disconnecting the wires from that switch and connecting the White and Green wires together. |
