I get the proper readings. A little over 5k forward, about 2.5k reverse. I just installed a resistor kit in the switch as it only had FAST before. I found a broken resistor. The speed increases as you depress the pedal and slows as you back off. It just comes on too quickly like it is immediately going to ½ speed.

Yeah, that one incorporates A2 at the controller instead of straight from the FNR. Your MSP is different. Comparing the drawings, but I think Pin 3 is still the same.... Sergio or David may see this soon and give further comment.

It sounds like I have a wonky controller.

This looks like a fairly simple system.

Sometimes I miss the old resistor speed controls. Not very efficient, but simple to work with.

Check the Wiper Arm and Contacts, but if you are getting good readings, I would think it is right. Maybe a Controller issue.

If you're getting the correct resistance, 0-5K as Sergio specified, all the way back to the controller where the white wire and black wire are plugged into the small blade terminals, you can rule your speed switch out as the cause. If the controller gets the 0-5K signal, but can't replicate it with actual current output, the controller is at fault.

What are the resistance increments, in the sequence, You are getting as You slowly press the pedal?

Can You get the full Controller Model # as well?

This is how the resistors and wires should go in You Multi-Step Potentiometer:
