It means your batteries are 1-year over due for replacement.

I wouldn't waste extra money on "reconditioned". Just get used.

Used batteries are just like used condoms.

So he should buy a "reconditioned" condom?

Note what he has, what he wants, and his ultimate goal. Not everyone can afford to just buy a new pack now, then throw that away in a few months when they want to upgrade to 48 volts.

I don't know anyone who can afford that. Perhaps I am hanging with the wrong crowd

And talking about condoms, I have been waiting to find the right place to use this "smiley"

Although used it might still get the job done in a pinch

Yurtle I see in your signature that you have 8 t105s, and I know they say that you're supposed to use all the same age batteries but what if I were to buy 6 now and then add two more sometime next year.

Most folks now recommend six 8 volt batteries, because of weight. When I did mine, I assumed more lead would equal more run time, and overall longevity, as they won't be run down as far each day of riding. I'm just over nine years and they are still strong. If I could do a side by side comparison with eight new T-105s, I'm sure I'd notice a big difference, but the decline has been gradual. I'm hoping to get a few more years out of them, when Lithium is even cheaper.

To answer your question, there's probably nothing wrong with buying 6 now and two more in six months. Once the older six are used up, you pretty much toss the two newer ones six months ahead of time. By that I mean they'll probably be in the same shape as the older ones.

I know the lynch mob will come out on this one but what if I were to get 3 Trojan 8 volt batteries to replace 4 of my worst 6 volt and then within the next six months or so I get the other 3 and 48 volt charger?

You'll end up destroying the new batteries. The 8 volts will undercharge and the remaining 6 volts will most likely overcharge. You should never mix different voltages in the pack...

You're replacing 24 volts with 24 volts, however, there's more to it than that. 4 6 volt batteries have a lot more lead than 3 8 volt batteries. More amp-hours. I wouldn't recommend it.
