What did I do wrong now???????

I hooked up my Curtis hand held to the controller and all of the settings appear to be the same. #4 speed setting is still there, regen is still off, fast accel is on. I didn’t notice anything different as far as settings are concerned. I have a NOCO Genius 48 volt charger and it does reach 100% but I guess I can’t say for sure that they are properly charged but I think last time I checked the voltage when they were topped off it was over 53 volts. As far as the wires I used all of the same wires that I had before with the exception of 2 new wires so I don’t think there is an issue with those but I should probably check them. I do know they are all clean with good ends and no corrosion.

Looks like that charger is rated at 960 watts +.

Try this. At the end of the day let your batteries charge to full capacity and auto shutoff. The next morning before you ride anywhere check your battery voltage. It should be right 51 volts ±.1 volt.

One more thing is your NOCO Genius 48 volt charger for deep cycle batteries? On the web site there are different model for golf carts.

They are fully charged right now so I will check the voltage in the morning. This is my charger. It says it is for golf carts among other things.

Is there a way to set the proper charge algorithm for the specific brand and model of battery? A generic algorithm works, but it may not be “the best” for your batteries.

On the speed issue I would still suspect a cable issue or possibly a faulty battery that’s dropping voltage under load. As I said before, getting a voltage reading while the pack is under load should tell you if that’s the case.
How long are the cables that go to the rear batteries? Something you can do to determine if any cable is causing an issue is check for voltage drop across the cable by clamping a meter lead to each end, and then driving the cart to see if the voltage across the cable changes.

I don’t think there is a way to set up that charger for those specific batteries. The cables going to the bag well are probably about 3 feet or so. It is 4 gauge wire but maybe that isn’t heavy enough for that application. I will do some more voltage checks tomorrow.

Well after letting the cart sit overnight the pack voltage was at 51.4 volts which didn’t seem too bad. I then connected my hand held and went for a ride. Voltage at the controller under heavy acceleration drops down to 41.0 to 41.5. That seems a bit excessive. Maybe I need to make some heavier cables. As soon as the cart gets up to speed the voltage recovers back to around 49 to 50 volts.

51.4 is good. 41 volts is bad. I've seen my batteries drop to 41 v once and that was going up a very steep hill and it was 20 degrees out. I know this is easier said than done but you need to individually check the voltage drop on each battery. You may have been sold a bad battery. BTW what type terrain are you driving on, is it flat or hilly?

I checked the voltage of all 8 batteries under heavy acceleration and they were all within 1/10th of a volt of each other. They all dropped to 5.5 to 5.6 volts and recovered back to 6.3 when the cart got up to speed. I am on basically flat ground with some very small gradual hills. I guess next will be a hydrometer check of each cell and see if that shows anything.

If they all dropped to 5.5 that would be 44volts, which is acceptable. Is this cart the limo you have pictured?
