Default sw 182 reverse contact

New install conversion on 92 club cart. This is a 36 volt system. The controller is Alltrax 48500. Need to diagnose why the reverse doesn't respond when switch is in reverse. It did work for a while when install was complete. The forward position works fine. the system was installed 9 months ago. Would appreciate any advice on where to start. thank you

9 months is long enough to know it is installed correctly. The SW182 is marginally rated for a 500 amp controller. That may have something to do with it. Also if the contactor is left activated (on) when not in use this will cause the unit to fail.

Simply test to see you have full pack voltage between the 2 small terminals on each side when they are activated (trying to go) if yes on both sides ( one side at a time) and the contactor only clicks in one direction it may have a coil failure

I’m not sure what you mean by left activated. The key switch i believe powers down all systems. Question; if I need a new one, would it be advisable to upgrade to sw202, and would that work with 36 volt system?

Forgot to add solenoid clicks in both direction. Vehicle only moves in forward direction.

When correctly wired the contactor clicks closed when you go and clicks open when you stop. Click/click. If it clicks in any other pattern, like with the key or such it can be left ON when not in use which will burn out the coil. Had a dealer tell me I sent 2 bad SW182 because they only lasted a few months! turns out the operator was leaving them on overnight.

I do suggest the SW202 for use with any 500 amp controller. Be aware the SW202 requires four 3/8ths cable lugs.
