High Rest Voltage on a 48v
Just resurrected a 2010 RXV and had 4 new 12v installed. Even bought the dealer recommended charger to ensure I was starting right. They gave it its initial charge. Drove a little then recharged with my new charger. Hit 61v near end of cycle and 52.4 volts when it switched off. At 12 hour rest, 51.5 volts and now almost 24 hours and still 51.5 volts. Charger unhooked so not related to float charge. Am I worrying about nothing here and will take a few cycles before they settle into the 50.9 correct range?

Ok. Just drove it about a 1/4 mile to grab the kiddos from bus stop and down to 50.7 now.

Re: High Rest Voltage on a 48v
What make/model Batteries?
Different brands have different 100% SoC voltages. 50.9V is for Trojan brand batteries, but the SoC chart is based on the average At-Rest voltage of a statistical population of mature (IE: broken in) batteries, so newer batteries may have a bit higher voltage while older batteries may have a bit lower voltage. Best practice is to record the individual battery at-rest voltages when new and again every six months or so as they age. |
