Default 2008 EZ GO golf cart

Recently purchased a 2008 EZ GO golf cart. The batteries were almost new. After getting a charger for it and charging up the batteries it ran great. Unfortunately, it recently stopped working. Batteries are fully charged at 52 volts output and the solenoid clicks when the key is turned on. Would appreciate any advice folks might have. Thanks!

Welcome to the Greatest Golf forum on the Planet.
The click that you describe sound like the "Solenoid Activation" circuit is doing its job. So The Key, Foot Pedal, F&R, Charger interlock & Tow Run make up this circuit.. Possible Bad Solenoid. Check out some of the post concerning checking the solenoid. Other items....Throttle input...Bad Controller or Bad Motor. But start with the simple things first.
Carts Unlimited web site has a great EZGO troubleshooting section. Good Luck & Enjoy

Many thanks for the information. Did a voltage test on the solenoid and come up with the following with the key on and in the forward position; large post with wire from battery 53.1 volts, large post with wire going to motor controller 51.7 volts, small post with wire to the throttle micro switch 53.1 volts and the other small post 53.1 volts. When the throttle was depressed with key on in forward position there was no changes in any of the voltages on the solenoid posts. Not quite sure how to proceed from here. Thanks again.

The 51.7 should have evened out to 53.1 after solenoid click. Sure sounds like bad solenoid.

Assuming cart is a PDS shouldn't one of the small terminals go to 0 volts when the solenoid clicks ? Put your leads on the two small terminals and in no pedal position it should be 0 volts. With the pedal pushed it should be pack voltage.

The OP has not identified the cart's drive type yet. He mentioned the pack voltage was 52V, so it is a 48V system and if it is truly a 2008 EZGO golf cart that very likely means it it has been upgraded from 36V.

Need to know make/model of controller.

Hello again and thanks for all of the ideas so far. Still not able to make the cart go. Replaced the solenoid just to be on the safe side but still nothing. The cart is a 48 bolt and may have at some point been updated to a 48 volt. The brake lights still remain on, but the brake releases when in tow mode and comes on when the brake pedal is activated. Not sure what connection the brake light staying on has to the cart not going. Would look forward to your thoughts and ideas.
