Default Speed control contact burn and spark, how to prevent this?

Hi,

I have an old cushman with a coil spring speed control. The contact was burned and the metal was wel/unweld because of the contact. I've ask the local shop to add metal (silver rod) on this to reshape it. I just give it a try, and the this starts again. Do you have any idea how i can repair these metal contact?
