Default Diode current flow Direction.

Newbie here to the golf cart world.
The diode is bad on my 1995 Ezgo.
It has been years since I have had to mess with diodes in a wiring diagram.
Which way does the current need to flow?
#1= From pedal to speed control box.
#2 = from speed control box to pedal

Default Re: Diode current flow Direction.

The diode across the solenoid coil is used to suppress the voltage spike that is generated when the solenoid is de-energized. This is to reduce the amount of arcing that occurs on the switch contacts when the solenoid coil circuit is opened. Typically, this is the pedal switch, but could be any of the four switches in the solenoid activation circuit.

The banded end of the diode is connected to the terminal with the red wire(s) on it, which is connected to B+ via the four switches.

As for which way the current should flow, are you speaking of conventional current flow or electron current flow?
