Default 1996 club car ds 48v

have club car when you press pedal it clicks at solenoid and doesnt move.forward or reverse.

After messing with it if you press pedal down multiple times it will go at different speeds like normal and sometimes you can let off and press again and is okay other times it wont go.And you have to press and let off multiple times for it to work.

any ideas??

do you know if its a reagan cart? if so it will have 2 solenoids and your F&R will be a rocker switch not the lever type................i don,t think you have a battery problem if cart runs ok when it runs............i think the place to start may be the solenoid so jack the rear of cart up and get a jumper wire to jump the large post on solenoid the one on the outer frame rail that the pos battery cable is hooked to..................jump the large post and slowly ppress the pedal down with key on and in forward if cart runs do this several times to make sure it works everytime if so i would replace that solenoid...........do you know what speed system you have ? V-glide or pot box.....if its a V-glide there will be a pie shaped box on upper frame rail between the front batts on drivers side if pot there a box mounted to lower frame rail you,ll have to look from underneath to see it.................you can also disconnect main power and open V-glide to make sure as youi press pedal the movable wiper arm is making good contact across all the copper buttons and there no burning or anything that looks outr of wack but i think i would start with solenoid 1st..................is cart charging ok?........................

Please forum needs complete serial number off frame rail under passenger glove box. this will confirm whether series ( F&R lever under right leg ) or rocker type swith on black box under right leg ( Regen 1 ) OR IF CART HAS BEEN CONVERTED? Testing is some what different with these carts. Please advise so forum can help faster with much less guessing. Also the 1995-1997 CC were transition years with many changes to controls and equipment used so need to get proper model. Thank you for taking the time to give us needed info.

You have the same cart I have. Pretty basic electrical system - if yours hasn't been modified.

First, check the battery voltage after a charge. It should be in the mid to upper 50s. Check all the connections. A bad pot box ("continuously variable potentiometer") on the accelerator pedal linkage can cause your problem.

Hopefully, your controller is OK. Worn brushes in the motor might also cause this issue.

Are you good with a volt/ohm meter? Best of luck! We're all here to help!

FLOOIN04-Possible solenoid problem as you are getting clicking but no go BUT first we need to know about you pedal control as the 1995-1997 period in Club Car had alot of new things that they were trying so here we go again with the 1995-1997 CC controls? Carts this old can have all kinds of STOCK FACTORY to home made conversions so forum needs to find out which pedal speed control you have? There was 3 different STOCK parts used in this build period.
#1-V Glide ( pie shaped unit under drivers seat on top of frame rail between batterys. Parts are still available for this one. ( HOPE THIS IS YOURS )
#2-Two different types of units mounted under drivers side floor ( MY 1996 has early kind not available ) ( black with pedal shaft running through them ) one type still available but other no longer made? Other available from after market sourses? In checking your serial number it was after one unit and so you can ( if needed ) be coverted to MCOR modern units ( if you have second style pedal hardware ) with a rather expensive kit? Was around $225. now unknown price?
#3- NONE STOCK possible conversion already done to MCOR which you will see under passengers floor.
#4- NONE STOCK possible conversion to a Curtis PB-6 unit normally mounted under drivers seat on top of frame between batterys.
Please advise forum with which type you have ( 1- 4 ) so we can advise you how to check for problem without wasteing time guessing as it does make a difference? Very possible that its a simple problem that can be taken care of with low costs to none?
