A year later, still brake issues with my 09 RXV
My 09 RXV is still having brake issues. Locks up after riding for a short time and will not release the brake until it sits or recharges, or move to tow position and move the cart around. However, there is no rhyme or reason to why it will release. It has released on its own after "Powering thru" the brake (to get away from the bull in the pasture), after allowing it to roll backwards by slightly depressing the gas pedal.
Replaced solenoid and it did great for a weekend, key switch has been replaced as well and supposedly the controller has already been re-programed before I got the cart from "course use" to "private use". Batteries are in good shape and does not seem to be a voltage issue as it can sit for months and then will unlock and you can ride and ride and then bang... locks up or you can ride all day long and then the next morning it is locked up. I use it in a hilly terrain and flat terrain, no significant determining factor as to what makes it lock up there either. When it runs it is awesome and impressive..... Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! |

Any chance you could borrow one from another cart ? and make sure there is voltage on the brake when there should be. If the cart is in Tow and the key is on, I believe there should be 18 volts at the brake..

Re: A year later, still brake issues with my 09 RXV
If you were to remove the motor from the differential there is a bearing looks like a bearing at least with the exception it has wires to it. I do not know the technical name of said part but thru talking with local dealer and just chatting he has said if it is not the brake that is the next part he checks. Will talk to him in the near future and get the correct name as I am working on buying an RXV from him that his mechanic fried. I am planning on building a custom RXV that will destroy all other carts!

Thanks for the info!!!!! I had not heard of the "bearing encoder" issue yet. I will pass along to my cart guy.

Bearing encoder is part of the 5v circuit on the cart. One of many things that can cause the cart to not move. Replaced mine along with the controller which was fried and the cart works fine.
