Default 02 ezgo problems

I have a 2002 ezgo txt with the precision drive system and I am having a problem with trying to get it to move. when it was parked about three years ago it needed batteries, I had another one at the time so I had no need to replace them right away, now I need the cart so I bought all brand new batteries and installed them but the cart will not move, I have a feeling that the control box needs to replaced but I am not sure how to check this box. it has all kinds of wire that plugs in to it and I am assuming that this is where the power also comes from. there is no power going to the solenoid or to the pedal. is there away to check this box or is it just done and I need to replace it.

The PDS is a "Fly-by-Wire" system, meaning that the controller does everything and the various switches and sensors just tell the controller what to do.

To get to solenoid to click, all the wires highlighted in red on the attached schematic have to have battery pack voltage on them.

The controller supplies the voltage to all the switches except one and there is one wire that has battery voltage on it all the time, so those are the first two places to check
J1 Pin-4 comes from the reed switch and should have battery voltage on it whenever the charger plug is not plugged into the charge receptacle.
J1 Pin-5 comes from the battery side large connector on the solenoid, so it should have battery voltage on it 100% of the time.

If you have battery voltage on those two pins, start check the voltage going to and coming back from the other switches.

If all the voltages are thare and the solenoid isn't clicking when the pedal is pushed (with key on, F/R in F or R and charge not plugged into cart). either the controller or solenoid coil is bad.

Let us know what you find.

BTW: Be sure to charge your new batteries before first use and then break them in properly to obtain max storage capacity.

thanks for all the replies, I have voltage on the 4th and 5th pin, and the 10th pin but there is no voltage on any other pin when cart is on or when cart is off. there is on voltage on them when they are plugged into the controller or when they are not plugged into the controller. basically there is never any voltage on them at all.

Re-check for voltage at J3 Pins 1 & 3 (That is the voltage to the run/Tow switch)

J1 Pins 4 & 5 are the voltage source for the controller's low current circuits and what you are reading on J1 Pin-10 is coming through the reverse beeper. (The controller puts B- on Pin-10 to sound beeper)

Appears that the controller is bad.

------------
BTW: Did you put Run/Tow switch in Tow when you replaced the batteries?
If not, that can take out a PDS controller.

the problem was the controller, I checked all the pins like you said and then. I went to a friends house and borrowed his controller and boom, she took off. thanks for all the help.

You may have missed JohnnieB's question about the Run/Tow switch.. Always make sure it is in Tow before you ever do anything to the wiring in the cart. Not being in Tow can trash a PDS controller quickly..
