I agree 8:1 gears should work well on a stock cart for more speed if you don't lift it and install bigger tires.

I plan on leaving no chip installed so I get maximum regen braking, that should help with slowing done from 30 mph. This cart only has stock drum brakes and stops pretty good too at those speeds, it can lock up the rear tires, probably since they are small and even lighter then stock (aluminum wheels). the no chip (all terrain) has no regen braking u have to use the blue (steep hill) or yellow (mild hill)

To lower current draw, you have to increase voltage.

Work done by an electric motor is measured in Watts (or HP -- 1HP = 746W)

At 19 MPH the cart is using 2,160W to generate nearly 2.9HP.
AT 36v the motor draws 60A at 19MPH while at 48V it would only draw 45A.

Well I'm glad I didn't attempt to run my 500 amp controller with stock motor using the 6:1 gears in my project cart, the motor may have smoked from the higher current draw you indicated. My new D&D motor has shipped and should be here tomorrow (it's slated for my project cart, not this test cart).

Finished up swapping bodies, replaced flat rear springs and recovered both seats. I think I lost a few pounds on this cart. Turned out looking good and placed on craigslist today.
