Re: Best way for EZGO to haul beach gear
JGD, what steering box does it have ?? New style or old ?? If it is the old style with 3 bolts holding down the steering column, this may work http://www.shopezgo.com/products/Fro...-Receiver.html

Re: Best way for EZGO to haul beach gear
That is pretty much the same hitch a workhorse uses and we have put a carrier in one. It flexed the crap out of the frame when weight was applied at the back. Now if you added the extension and tied that into the step it might be better. I'm still leaning towards pipe insulation on the rear armrests and just load her up.

Sorry for the delayed response. Busy weekend. I appreciate the links. KGSC not sure about the steering since its at the beach and I am here but I will check it out.
Yurtle, definitely no hills at the coast haha. Batteries seem to be holding well just wish I would have known about all the info here and the break in procedure. As far as Margaritas they taste better when toes in the sand and the salt taste from the Atlantic. Lot of work to get there but always worth it in the end. Thanks for the info guys. Re: Best way for EZGO to haul beach gear
if your still considering the trailer route there is a universal trailer hitch that bolds under the step of the rear seat and then you could get a 4x6 or 4x4 utility trailer from harbor freight for around 160$, then you could load the trailer and everyone could go at same time when leaving beach instead of making multiple trips. Also you can get a cheap roof rack system from walmart or on line for less then $100 and mount it to roof by securing it to top posts. just brainstorming. nice looking cart really dig those running boards what kind are they?

Re: Best way for EZGO to haul beach gear
New
Still trying to decide, but looks like a little trailer might work, but have not ruled out just going the flip down back seat and rack. Not sure about the boards, its new to us and came that way. Will have a chance to investigate more soon. Thanks for thoughts! |

Does the golf cart go all the way to your camp/fishing spot?
If so think about re purposing the small HF trailer. |

Re: Best way for EZGO to haul beach gear
Don't even think about the hitch mounted carrier! I bought a lightweight aluminum carrier from Harbor Freight to carry several shooters bags at the sporting clay range or beach chairs and such at the beach. Even with the carrier positioned as close to the rear step as possible, it just leverages the step too much. I have a solution in mind to fix this problem, but I haven't found the time to work on it this year. I ended up with a front mounted basket, but that probably won't meet your needs.
I like the idea of the small utility trailer since it would allow for all the daily goods to stay on the trailer and not have to be handled so much. If you have room for a small trailer, that would be my vote. |
