Could be unrelated to the lights and just bad timing. Have you tried pulling back on the gas pedal while it is doing the self test?

Called ez go support line, they said since I wired the 48volt meter to the key switch I blew the controller. Does that make any sense?

The solenoid should not click until key is switched on and you press the pedal.

In an RXV the solenoid turns on when the key is turned to any position other than off. The solenoid stays on whether the accelerator is pressed or not. I have a voltage reducer with the switch wired to the solenoid and operates as long as the key is in the F, N, or R position.

OK.. I didn't know. That should work OK but I would not want to connect anything to the key switch..
