Will 2 gauge battery cables drain batteries faster?

Actually, 2 AWG does give you the "ability" to do the same or more work "faster" than smaller cables. How you choose to do that work is up to you. Rapid acceleration is a waste. Climbing a hill at 10 mph vs. 15 mph is not. Energy is wasted due to heat so 2 AWG is a LOT more efficient - within reason. Oversized tires will suck down your batteries quicker, but isn't that what you want when you put ridiculous tires on a buggy?

Bigger cables will allow the battery pack to pay for all of your poor decisions. It also allows you to access more of the chemical energy contained in the pack. Trade off.

You can see where I put my money in my sig.

After the switch from the factory cables to 2 gauge cables, I have a QUIETER, smoother running cart. Worth every penny.
