Default 2013 txt 48, six 8 volts to four 12 volts question

I currently have six year old 8 volt Trojans in my 2013 txt which need replacing. My brother has a brand new set of 12 volt US batteries. Is it possible to use four 12v instead of six 8v? And, will my stock ezgo charger still work properly? Thanks and sorry if this is a repeated topic.

The four 12 volts will work, 48 volts is 48 volts and your stock charger should work fine. You will most definitely see shorter run times with the four 12 volts than the six 8 volts. Just compare the amp hour rating of the 8 volt to the 12 volt.

The 12V batteries have a different footprint than the 8V batteries (Roughly the same width, but about 3" longer), so they probably won't fit in the 6x8V battery tray.

US Battery batteries and Trojan batteries have different charging profiles, so your existing charger may not charge the 12V batteries properly. Email US Battery with the Make/Model of charger to be sure.

If you can resolve the two issues listed above and can tolerate the reduced run-time, they'll work.

If they are brand new, you can probably sell them for about what 6 eight volts will cost. And, you do have 6 cores. That's what I would do.

Would US 8volts replace trojan 8 volts without charger issues?

Well it wouldn't be optimal, but it would work. Which charger do you have? (I'm not looking for "the stock one" as an answer). The charger may allow mode change.

That's almost as common as asking what sized tires they have and getting answered wheel size. Just slows down the answers they wanted/needed.

Sorry, slow Sat. night.

So if a 12v us battery is 110min @56 amp and a trojan 8v is 117min @ 56 amps. How do you know the overall runtime of a whole pack?
