Default No movement from golf cart motor still spins

I have an electric ezgo pds cart. The cart is lifted, has large tires, 2 ga. Welding wire cables, freedom chip and everything else is stock. Yesterday I drove about 1 mile and while approaching a stop sign heard a noise from the rear of the cart. Afterwards trying to accelerate the cart sounded like the motor was spinning fine, but the shaft was just spinning. A zzzzzzzzz sound in sort of a high pitch. Has anyone ever seen this? And what should be done to fix it so it never happens again?

Might be stripped hub.

Remove the hub caps so the castle nuts can be seen. Have someone watch the castle nut as you try top drive away. Check both sides, only takes one to keep the cart from moving.

If you have a stripped hub, replace both siide to prevent repeat of problem.

I listened to it and it sounds like the input shaft that goes in to the motor. I'm going to drop the motor and look. What's the best way to deal with the speed sensor wire that runs from the end of the motor when you disconnect the motor

Why would you drop the motor when you don't know if the hub is stripped?

Easy to check.

I got under the cart and listened while someone else pushed the pedal you can hear it's not in either of the hubs.

Hub would be easier to remove than the motor, check your hubs first, then move onto the motor.

A stripped hub is recognizable by the axle nut turning and the wheel staying still...use a stick or ask a helper to push the gas while you LOOK for the stripped hub others say is visible from Chi-town.

I have heard of the motor input shaft stripping out. I have never seen one? It could happen

But it's more fun to get " under the cart and listened while someone else pushed the pedal". Hunny, hold my beer and press the go pedal...

I appreciate everyone's input I will check the Hubs before I move further since everyone votes for the hubs. I am pretty hard headed so I took the motor off yesterday the input spline looks fine, but the coupler spline looks worn. Not slick, but definitely worn. So my next question is, just for entertainment purposes, would the coupler spline have to be completely slick before the input shaft will not grab? I will post some pics of the coupler and shaft in a second.
