Default 2001 txt suddenly slow

Hello everyone, I have a 2001 ezgo txt 36 volt series cart. We recently installed an alltrax SR 485 controller, Hd solenoid and Hd f/r. The cart has a 6” lift, 23” tires and 12” wheels. Since the controller we had was pretty bad, the new controller increased the speed from 14 mph to 16/17 mph. We were ecstatic. The installation occurred approximately 2 weeks ago. We rode the cart around all day on Sunday and my husband washed it afterwards and put it back in the garage. The next day the cart’s highest speed was 11/12 mph. We charged the batteries and took it out on Thursday but it still ran at 11/12 mph. We thought that perhaps something got wet so my husband used the blow dryer method to the pedal box (even though he didn’t see any moisture) but that didn’t do anything. The alltrax controller lights up green 4 times I think and then remains green. It never turns orange when the pedal is fully depressed. Any input will be really appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Welcome.

Did you try unhooking the 1/2 speed wire? You can hook a laptop (or desktop) up to the controller and see what it thinks is going on with the throttle %.

The golf cart woke up the next morning and remembered it's a slow 36v.... 11/12 mph is typical on a 36v golf cart.

YURTLE,
What is this "1/2 speed wire"? I don't recall seeing anything like that when I was installing my alltrax.

The in-line connector between pedal box and cart's wiring harness might have gotten wet. Try unplugging and spray cleaning, or eliminate the 4-pin Molex connector with butt-splices or solder joints.

Also, if the in-line connector isn't the problem, clear the throttle auto-cal.

Here's the Molex connector JohnnyB mentioned.

Thank you for the input everyone. My husband did take a look at the Molex connector. He unplugged it and plugged it back in. Not sure if he cleaned it or not. I will attempt to hook the controller up to the laptop to see what’s going on with the throttle. Thanks again, your comments are greatly appreciated.

On an SR controller, it plugs into the blue spade connector.

The computer "port" is covered with a soft black rubber plug, J3.
