EZGO Total Charge Question
I have a green label, black case EZGO Total Charge charger. I recently replaced the batteries in my cart. My charger would never shut off except when the time on the timer ran out. Not wanting to ruin my new batteries I ordered a new control board. Part 28668-G01. The charger now shuts off at around 44 volts. These are Motorcraft golf cart batteries and not sure who the manufacturer is. Does 44v completely charge the batteries? For long term storage: If there is time left on my timer will the charger come back on itself or do I have to unplug and reconnect my charger to start again? If it automatically starts again at what voltage does it start again? Also can you accurately test and charge batteries with an automotive charger if the batteries are all connected or do all the batteries need to be disconnected? Thanks.

Re: EZGO Total Charge Question
I had one of those chargers. Here's how it goes: With charger plugged into wall outlet, plug cord into cart receptacle. After a second or two you should hear a click. Turn timer all the way 'clockwise' (if I remember correctly) to start. Ammeter should jump along with humming. Charger will automatically shut off when voltage reaches 44-46v. Timer will stop showing you how long it took to charge the batteries. Charger will also shut off after 12 hours even if the batteries don't reach the voltage threshold.
The only way it will restart is if you unplug it from the cart and then plug it back in. Batteries don't have to be disconnected to measure individual voltage with a meter or charging two at a time with a 12v auto charger. |
