Default Fast Battery Discharge

Hi all. I have a 1989 EzGo Marathon and about 4 months ago put in new batteries from Rural King and all has been well. 2 weeks ago we were out doing a neighborhood cruise and we died. Some rapid clicking (like a car starter) and thought it was battery. Charged up batteries and swapped out the solenoid and now there is a hum but no movement. I had the cart jacked up and was able to spin wheels in forward and reverse.

I went out today and pulled off the charger (showed charged) and I literally watched the batteries go from 6.7 volts to 5 in about 90 secs. I disco'd the series and they have stopped, I found the batteries low on water so topped on off and doing an individual 6 volt charge to eliminate my charger not actually doing its job.

I am mechanical but don't know where to start to see what could be so draining so fast.

Solenoid clicks, hums and dies after 90 secs. Could it be the water levels in the batteries just not holding any amps?

Not sure where to start and would love some ideas.

Thanks!

Could be welded closed solenoid draining power all the time. If the cart is left in Neutral (middle between F & R positions), does it still do it?

Finally got the battery charged, must have really over-charged because there was a lot of liquid gone. Waiting for them to stay charged and back at it...
