Sorry hydrometer is used to measure specific gravity of acid to water in batteries cell.
Another tool used to monitor battery condition. Good tool for checking batteries cell balance and state of charge along with identifieing suspected bad battery. Low specific reading, low charge, high reading, high charge.low reading on one cell compared to others would indicated bad cell,battery.hth |

I agree with that, but, if it identifies a faulty cell in a otherwise healthy battery, what is one to do about it? Can't replace an individual cell. Would still require a different battery in the location of the battery with a bad cell. The same conclusion could come from a (much easier) voltage reading from that battery while under load. Same conclusion, easier test. And what are we to conclude from a SG test on a pack of batteries that we already know are sitting in a overlly discharged state?
