You could hook the Tesla coil to it!
No more kids will mess with your cart!

I break it out every Halloween, and 99.9% of the kids run away in fear. But around 15 years ago, I had one girl run towards it (thinking it was a plasma globe?), and I had to hit the red mushroom e-stop. Doesn't always scare them!

But a train whistle would.

I was actually thinking about wiring the second relay to one of these:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/vibrati...arm-1-9v-33474

so I can start and stop the golf cart in one button and start the vibration alarm on the other...
it is VERY LOUD alarm!
I have 2 of these at home...
if it's going to work (and I don't see any reason why not) it's going to be a nice and very cheap project for like less than 20$.

I can take 12v to power the relay board from the cart's batteries, right? connecting it to two batteries in a row will do the work, right?
do I need to add anything between the batteries and the relay board?
Is it safe for the batteries?

Thanks!

For the relay board, you'll have to check the current draw, but I doubt it's much. Shouldn't hurt the batteries. Worst case, keep an eye on the voltage of individual batteries and rotate the 12 volts to a different set of two batteries as needed. I'd use an inline fuse.

If you start getting more 12 volt accessories, you may want to buy a 36 volt to 12 volt reducer.

Hello All!

I got that relay board and remote ordered from ebay and connected it in parallel to the key switch.
I also added and LED for indication of whether the "virtual key switch" is on or off. Also added a manual on/off switch that can disconnect the relay board circuit from consuming power from the batteries at times I'm not going to use it (like at night, before going to sleep) even though I don't believe it's going to consume much current from the batteries...

After working with it a few days I can tell this whole thing is working GREAT!
It's much more instantaneous than it was before.

I'll upload a demonstration soon, hopefully this week...

Thank you all guys!
Great day!

this relay can stand 30v DC with 10A but coz it's very low current I believe there will be no problem with 38v DC...

It is a nice find, isn't it?
How low of a current does it draw?

On the subject of keyswitch hacking..... Using an arduino with bluetooth it would be fairly simple to pair it with your phone, so that once you are within bluetooth range the ignition is 'on' and you can just jump in and go.
