We joked about me doing all the work in the garage. ..
No issues. The cart is 79.5" tall with the rack.

Doug, my question is that when you're welding on a golf cart, do unhook the battery pack or unhook anything from the motor or controller prior to welding? I understand that there's no grounding to frame for batteries and such but didn't know about the motor.

I put the cart in tow mode. Maybe should have done more, but everything is fine.
My welder isn't particularly powerful either....meaning I've got to be pretty close with my ground to weld on the new bar.

Ok. I got to wondering this a few years ago but never posted anything on it. I made a bed for my 1995 Medalist but fabricated everything so it could be bolted to it. As far as my vehicles I've always disconnected the battery. Nice looking overhead rack, BTW!

Looks pretty slick! I need a top and struts for mine so I think I'm just gonna go this route.

Did you weld any of the seams where the rack fits together with the extender?

Looks like you only had to weld one cross-brace between the rear struts, did you weld the seams or anything else on the front struts?

Have you sprayed it down with a water hose to see where the run-off goes?

I thought about welding the seams and then decided that I was exceeding my abilities. ...I did pick up some black caulk and will seal the seams that way. The rack did come with rubber gasket to fold over seams but I didn't like the way they looked.
I know that the rack tilts to the front like the regular canopy, so I created a lip on the front, but left the back open. First movement forward is sending all water to the back seat.

Hahaha, you "back seat suckers" are all wet. Thats been the name of the game forever as far as i know. Thats my norm every monsoon season. (try to not get soaked). The stock yamaha roof is pretty good. "Stretch plastic" windshield bags make a good "rain coat", thats the best quality product that they are sending us these days.
