Default 36v to 48v using a 12v

Anything wrong with just dropping a 12v battery in with my 6 volts to make it 48? My controller, motor, solenoid, F&R, diode, and resistor are all rated for 48 volts. I have a 12v battery charger for the one battery.

D&D motor 170-010-0002
AXE4855 500 Alltrax Controller
MZJ-400 Solenoid
3 amp diode
220 or 470ohm pre-charge resistor
HD F&R
2g wire

Yes because it's WRONG from the word go...

The batteries are mismatched in amp hours the smaller of the group will be discharged at a higher rate than the larger...

Thank you sir...so just dropping in another 6v would be best? I don't want to buy all new batteries yet. I just bought the 6 volts before I decided to do an overhaul.

How old are your batteries? If less than 1 to 2 years (tops) and well cared for mixing in new batteries would would not be a totally bad thing.... Mixing new batteries with aged batteries that no longer store energy as they should is the bad thing... You would also need a charger with the proper voltage too....

Get more matching 6v, dont waste money on 12v to add. The mismatched capacity will quickly kill the 12v's due to overcharging, and significantly reduce the life of the 6v's due to undercharging.

If you can squeeze them in bite the bullet soon and go buy 2 more matching 6 volt batteries as well as a new DPI Accusence 48 volt battery charger... In the end you will thank yourself for the new found power and extended range...

Thank you for your wisdom! Going with one extra 6 volt for now because it's easily added without cutting or moving anything. I'll charge separately with a battery charger. Thanks again!

One more thing...
When charging the batteries do I need to unhook the 7th and set back up as a 36?
