ScottyB, if I went the 48V route can the XTCxxx controller be programmed not to be violent on the stock motor, or is that out of the question?

Certainly, I program all XCT500 amp controls to 400 amp limits for stock motors. The customer can turn the controller up when he gets an aftermarket motor.
I still can't recommend the stock motor on 48v but you could limit RPMS and throttle ramp rate but, I can't guaranty results will be what you want.

Gothch!

48V fun for a while but even with SocttyB's programming it's still hard on the stock PDS motor.

Thanks once again for all the advice and the timely responses.

Have you a pic/ diagram of the wiring Scotty? It would seem that the 42 Volt route is the way to go , and heeding your suggestion I will move in that direction.

I'm not Scotty, but with the single exception of the number and voltage of the batteries connected in series to form the battery pack, the wiring is the same for a 36V, 42v or 48V system.
