Re: 1993 Marathon EZGO runs slow to creep
Is this the drive system controller? See photo. Also, would 400amp be sufficient for 6-8v batteries. With a new solenoid of course. Thanks for all the help! I promise to try not to be too big of a pain in the butt.

Yes that's the controller.
And as to the amperage that depends on your use. How many people? Hills all the time , sand? |

Re: 1993 Marathon EZGO runs slow to creep
Mostly in campgrounds. Sometimes camping at the beach but not on the soft sand as a rule. 2- adults, 1- teen, 1- pig, sometimes 1- 7 year old! Not all up hill but some. :) I called FSIP and they recommended 400 with a new solenoid. I just don't want to hurt the motor or do damage. Also, would putting these items on before I get the new batteries help or hurt?

Re: 1993 Marathon EZGO runs slow to creep
I think if you did the 48v and a 400 amp controller you could have favorable results. But I'm no expert. Let these other guys chime in. The torque increase of controller and an extra 12v would give you more torque for your needs.

Re: 1993 Marathon EZGO runs slow to creep
Well this is our first cart and we are clueless. So, I will take all the advice I can get. It was even loosing speed on a paved road in front of our house with a tiny incline!! We would be killed if we tried to cross an intersection! I don't need whiplash, just need to get back to the camper before the ice melts and the grandson grows a beard!!!

Those batteries are toast it sounds like. That cart should hold speed on a tiny incline.

Also if you have a smart phone or a gps get us a true GPS ground speed on as flat a ground as you can find. That will let us see how fast your actually going...against what the cart should do with fresh batteries.

Go to where ever you get apps...apple store or Google play.
Type in speedometer app. Download one of the top results. And turn your location on and open the app. You now have a gps speedometer!! :-) |

Re: 1993 Marathon EZGO runs slow to creep
Ok, found a speed meter app. On the flattest part of the paved road I'm getting 8-9 average. Up the incline of driveway with hubby, 2 and almost to a stop. Alone, 2 steady on. Down the tiniest of inclines on the road as much as 13 and back up 7-8.
