Default How to tell if you have HD springs.

I thought I read on here the factor normal springs were 1 or 2 leaf and that HD springs were 3 or 4. Then read an old post about how somepojnt...maybe early 00s , I just don't remember, that ezgo switched to 3 leaf standard springs.

I just installed a lift kit on my 97 and it has 3 leaf springs. I just got the cart so I am unsure of its past history, even though it was family he has now passed . It is possible he had them replaced at some point as he was a larger man and maybe they sagged out and he had a shop replace them? I only care since it will have a rear seat installed and I don't want to buy HD springs if I have them. I know I can put the seat on and see what it looks like with people on the back but this is just more for my information right now.

Is there any identifying marks on them that I would be looking for that would I'd factory ezgo springs mahbe? I know aftermarket marking would vary upon manufacture so that's probably out.

Here is a pic

HD'S are usually 4 leaf. I'd say your's are stock 3 leafs. Personally, I wouldn't change them unless you're sagging bad with a load.

I've seen three leafs called HD in advertisements. I've also seen four leafs called that. I think you should not rely on that name. Make sure you order what you want.

have you ever ridden in a 1 ton truck on a rough road with no load in it? the HD springs are way stiffer than the spongy stockers.

CG, Are you saying there is a Stock version and heavy duty version of a 3 leaf spring? Like they have a differnt temper? Or maybe a differnt thickness of each leaf?

One thing Ive noticed on my cart is the springs are kind of soft even though they have four leafs. But I have two batteries in the well and a flip seat.
