My Voltage Reducer Installation Brackets

I am working on adding electric accessories to my Lynx and was trying to figure out where and how to mount the Madjax voltage reducer I bought. Here is my solution. It is mounted behind the middle set of batteries between the upper and lower frame rails.

This is the bracket. I made it from aluminum angle that I bought at Home Depot.

This is how the reducer mounts to the brackets.

I drilled holes in the frame rails spaced properly for the reducer and bolted the brackets in place. I had already attached the screws to hold the reducer in place but left them loose. I also left the bracket bolts loose so I could slip the reducer in place and tighten all the bolts at once.

Nicely done! Looks like you have a nice workhorse cart.

I used a plastic underseat tray ($40) as I wanted to keep the rest of the components dry, Drilled a hole in the bottom to run the wires thru to the accessories, used small machine screws to bolt the accessories to the tray.

I added circuit breakers on both the 48v and 12v sides to make it easy to kill the power going to the voltage reducer or accessories when storing for long periods of time. I also fused 48v to add an additional reducer down the road, and fused 12v to isolate power issues - so far I have had none.

Sweet set up, jroeiii. Any heat issues? I thought the reducers needed air circulation or a heat sink.

Not that I am aware of. I checked it a number of times before I screwed the tray to the bottom of the seat. It barely gets warm even with the load I can run thru it with the stereo and all the LEDs going. I figure that keeping it absolutely dry is better than any potential heat issues.
