Default Speed difference

I have a '95 and a '97 EZGO TXT. The '97 is A DCS and is twice as fast as the '95. Is it because of the DCS system? Also, is the top end speed changeable on these carts?

A worn 95 series drive could top out at 10-12 mph.
A DCS cart with an Alltrax control could top out at 20 mph.

We need more information on the 20 mph DCS. Speed controllers can change top speed, what's in it?

1. As they rolled off of the EZGO assembly line, both would have roughly the same top speed, so the performance of the Series Drive cart ('95) has very likely deteriorated some in the two decades since then, while the controller in the Sepex Drive ('97 DCS) may have been upgraded since the DCS controller (Curtis 1206SX) is a high failure item.

2. No and Yes.

No: The top speed cannot be change using stock controllers, standard speed motors, stock differential gears (12.44:1 ratio), stock height tires (18") and a stock (36V) battery pack. The stock high current cables and solenoid also limit the performance, but they mostly limit the amount of low end torque available.

Yes: The aforementioned components can be changed.
