Battery Problems with 07 club cart precedent
I am new to ALL of this. Have never been on a forum before so please forgive me. I just bought a 2007 club cart 48v for $1000. The owner told me that the batters where a year old. The batters are Trojan T-1275. The cart has been setting in a warehouse for a year, not being charged. I tried to charge it with the carts charger and nothing. I was told to try charging the batters separately and the front two batters charged to 12v each. The problem I am having is when I go to charge the back two. I hook the + to the + and the - to the - and the charge says there are backwards. Please Help!

Re: Battery Problems with 07 club cart precedent
You need batteries. Batteries can not sit for a year without being charged with any hopes of salvaging them. They are done. They've sat so long and gone so dead, they've began to reverse polarity. There is no hope for them.

But even with that said, $1000 for an '07 is a steel

Re: Battery Problems with 07 club cart precedent
You should always change all the batteries. If you plan on keeping the cart you need to start off right. If you search the forum you won't find anyone who recommends just changing individual batteries in the pack. Good luck. You've got a great cart at a great price.

Jump right in with both feet OP!
Go for the 4/12 to 6/8 conversion Replace those 12 volt batteries with six 8 volt batteries. Your cart will love you for it!!! |

Re: Battery Problems with 07 club cart precedent
If you can find two used 12V batteries for a decent price, I'd try it.
Other than that, change the pack.... |

Re: Battery Problems with 07 club cart precedent
It is definitely how many dollars make good sense. I know you said they were only a year old and 2 were good and 2 were bad, so go with what your wallet will support.
I will share this with you too, mine are US Battery 12's and my cart was 11 months a 3 weeks old (one week of warranty left) and I found acid leaking underneath it. Called my dealer and he came and picked it up and called me later that day and said there was a bad place on my aluminum angle iron and put a hole in the battery. They replaced that one battery and 7 years later I am still maintaining good pack voltage and all four batteries are within 1/10 of a volt of each other. Now I definitely would not put a new battery in with my set now if I had a failure, but as long as mine are running and maintaining good pack voltage while meeting my needs, I'll let it ride...(literally and figuratively) And DS had a good suggestion about 2 good used ones if you can find them, but again, whatever you can afford and gives you the best feeling after you do your research and further test the 2 good ones. If they are not going to maintain voltage or a draw, it is a moot point and all will need to be replaced. Good Luck! |
