I could be way off here, but from what I could see reading today.....

It looks like when the key is turned on, the + on the solenoid is energized and the controller applies the - when you press the accelerator to close the contacts. If that is true, I can tap off the + side of the solenoid for the relay's +.

Can anyone confirm that? If not I will check it tomorrow evening or Saturday, supposed to be a wet weekend.

Either way, it should not be that hard to get key switched 48V to the relay.

Always wanted to visit Australia, but I do not fly!

I have now changed the 12V distribution to a properly fused distribution bus.

The relay that I used (as suggested by Sergio) was...

This is the relay I ordered. I think they are pretty much the same thing.

The main solenoid is energized when you depress the pedal on Excel cart. Check the right side of your dash to see if there is an unused/open 4 pin plug. It was used on these fleet carts as some kind of remote control GPS gizmo. I traced the wires back and disconnected them to re-purpose for my 12v accessories including the trigger from the key.

This one is a IQ cart. Is it the same?

I think I see what you are saying now. I misunderstood your use of the word energized. That word is used when the coil is getting power and pulling the solenoid closed thereby completing the high amperage circuit.

What you mean is that the Blue/White solenoid trigger wire gets + pack voltage power when the key is in the ON position. The MCOR completes the circuit on the Blue wire when the pedal is depressed slightly.

BTW, the plug and wiring for the "smart box" that I mentioned may not be there on an IQ cart and I cannot think of any "extra" wire going back there.

Got a new little issue here.

Have not mounted the relay yet, but doubt that will change anything with the current issue.

Changed out the halogen lights to the led lights, but now even with the headlight switch off, anytime the key switch is turned on I get a very faint glow on the led bulbs.

With the key switch on, the converter is powered up but the headlight switch is off. I have not checked the actual voltage, but by how dim the led headlights are it has to be very minimal.

Anyone got an idea of where I could be getting some voltage leaking from?? Maybe a defective headlight switch?

Do you have a switch that illuminates? Might need one that is LED compatible which has its own ground. Or, you might be able to put a small resistor in line to stop it.

No, simple pull one from Autozone (3 position).

That way I can have parking lights and tail lights, or parking lights, tail lights and headlights.

At work pondering this.......

Maybe tonight I will switch back to the single position switch and see what happens.
