Smile Picking up a stock 2014 Precedent. What to upgrade first?

Picking a pretty mint condition 2014 Precedent this Friday. It already has headlight, tail lights and rear fold down seat. I'll be using it for minor off-road on my 3gun comps getting from stage to stage and RV campground use. Not to mention cruising the neighborhood.

FYI: I'm extremely DIY so don't sugar coat anything. If I don't understand I'll google it. I've already done a little research and will have no problems completely taking the whole thing apart and reassembling. I have a full tool assortment from modding a mustang in my driveway and remodeling and tons of other hobbies I've done.

The 3gun comps have gravel/dirt roads with some hills in between stages carrying around 100lbs worth of firearms and ammo. Sometimes a buddy will go with me so there will be another passenger. The terrain is nothing crazy.

What should I upgrade first?

Which amp controller? 500-750? I don't need the best and I don't want the cheapest. Do I need anything besides the controller and upgraded wiring? If so please link to what accessories to go with the controller.

Gonna upgrade all wiring to either 4 gauge or 2 gauge.

Looking at a lift/wheel combo with A/T tires.

I want to get speeds to mid 20s with torque to get me around my 3 gun comps carrying my gear.

I know a motor is going to be needed but I'm sure with just wiring, controller and accessories needed for the controller will be enough till I can drop $700+ on a new motor. I want the lift/wheels and minor speed/torque improvements with controller.

Thanks for any help.

You pretty much answered your own question(s) already. So lets recap:
1- 4" or 6" A-arm Lift Kit (not a spindle)
2- 10x22 or 11x23 tires and appropriate sized wheels
3- 2awg cables
4- XCT 300 (stock compatible but way more more advantages and tweaks)
or XCT 400 or 500 controller (more amp capability with torque)
5- 200 amp solenoid for XCT 300 or 400 amp solenoid for XCT 400 & 500
6- High speed motor which are ~$420 or so from our site sponsors.

Then there are all kinds of aftermarket accessories you can add to your list.

Just click on our site sponsors and look around. I know Revolution Golf Cars and Carts Unlimited both have all this and the technical assistance/support you want. They also do package deals.

Pretty good list. The only thing I can add is that you should skip the 300A and 400A controllers and go right to the 500A Alltrax along with the SHD solenoid and 2AWG wires. The two smaller controllers are light years ahead of the stock Curtis in performance and flexibility but are no match for a real high performance aftermarket motor. You would not get the most of the motor if and when you decide you need it. The cost increase over the smaller controllers is only $50 or 100 and the cost increase of the requisite cables and solenoid is only a few dollars.

"This is Greg. He just installed the Alltrax 400A controller with the stock motor. He is now kicking himself for not spending another $50 for the 500A. Don't be like Greg"

Thanks for tips earlier.

I have the XCT 500amp, 400a solenoid, and 2gauge wire combo in my cart. Skipping on the FNKS for now. I'll get that when I do the motor upgrade.

Gonna get a 4" Jake lift with probably a 22/23" wheel/tire set next. Then the motor. Gonna try for a DIY paint job too. I've got some contractors in my family and have access to a good paint sprayer.

Might make a build thread.

I don't know if you mean the controller etc is already in your Club Car or whether you mean it is in an online shopping cart. If it is the latter, I hope your cart is with Revolution Golf Cars or Carts Unlimited. Both Dave and Scotty are forum sponsors and give up a lot of time giving expert advice on the forum to guys just like you. It is good to support them (their prices are very good also).

Just make sure it is not a spindle lift - you will not be satisfied with it as much in the end.

Yes. In my online shopping cart from carts unlimited.

And I know they give a lot of their time. I read 40 pages of this Club Car forum last night. Carts unlimited posts a whole bunch of info on wiring.

Gonna wait till I officially pick it up. Actually found another cart. It's a 2014 PE1449 serial. Same price minus the back seat and headlight tail lights but it already has the Level 4 speed code. Just add a back seat, voltage reducer and a full street light kit. 19mph can get me by for now. They want $3200 for it. Late build 2014 with the ERIC charging system and no OBC if I've done my research right.
