97 club car wont charge
I have a 97 club car 48v sepex cart that I cant get the charger to come on. Pack voltage is 43v. I checked the two small wires going to the chargers relay and when plugged into the cart im getting the 43v. So the obc seems to be communicating with the charger. I replaced the relay in the charger since I had one laying around and wasnt getting a "click" from the charger and still no diffrence. I then jumped the chargers relay to get the charger to come on, plugged it into the cart and the amp meter never moved from 0. I then checked voltage at the charger recepticle on the cart and was only getting 30v? I decided to run a new negative wire from the recepticle to the battery pack negative and I then got the full 43v. I then plugged the charger back in (with the relay still jumped) and the amp meter shot up to 25amp. Not sure what I have going on. I read a voltage drop at the recepticle is normal but 13v seems like a lot. I gonna let it charge like this for a few hours to get the batterys charged and I guess go from there. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: 97 club car wont charge
The charger wont charge the batterries if they are too low. Monitor it closely while the really is jumped so you don't damage the pack. Once you get the pack voltage up, remove the jumper on the relay and see if it works normally. Might have a bad OBC. Search the forums for the OBC reset.

Re: 97 club car wont charge
I got the pack voltage up to 49.7v. Wired everything back up normal and the charger will still not come on. I tried seeing if the cart would move and when I press on the pedal you can hear the controller start to wine but the cart wont move. 49.7 should be enough voltage for it to drive. Can a bad obc effect the cart moving also? I hope the controller isnt bad too lol. I going to try the charger in another cart tomorrow to confirm thats working properly.

Re: 97 club car wont charge
The OBC has a lock out the prevents the cart from moving if the charger is plugged in. If you charger works normally on another cart, look in the stickies for the OBC bypass procedure.

Re: 97 club car wont charge
I believe I can rule that out because the cart wont do anything with the charger plugged in. With it unplugged, when you depress the pedal, you can hear the controller wine like its trying to move. Any repair manuals floating around for these carts? I found one for 98-99 regen2's but there a little different from this one.

Re: 97 club car wont charge
Can you lift the rear wheels off the ground and see if they spin with no load? I'm about at the end of my testing expertise. Hopefully someone smarter than me will chime in.

Re: 97 club car wont charge
With the wheels off the ground, when i press the pedal I get a whine from the controller, wheels try and turn but dont then the controller stops whining after about 10sec of the pedal being depressed.

Re: 97 club car wont charge
I converted mine to a series system. Also a 97 regen 1 cart.
