Monkey I used your lighter idea on my cart. Let me tell you it was just in the nick of time. Someone tried to get it the other night. There were 3 taken from the golf cource a couple of weeks ago. That is a great idea

All you are doing is using the Lighter socket as a on/off switch, you are only breaking the connection on one wire, -- Not a POS + wire and a NEG - wire |

I'd measure the resistance on the plug in (heater) part of the lighter. After all, it is a direct short between + and - on a 12 volt system, so may have too much resistance to be a switch without some mods. If it is, or if used on a 36 or 48 volt system, may be fine, BUT it will always be hot. I'd remove the resistance element and directly short the connections. The part that holds the "heater" in place is a bi-metallic strip and lets go once it's hot.
