Default 03 Series - no movement - grinding in rear end

My 03 Series suddenly shut down and will not move in forward or reverse. There is a grinding noise in the rear end when the accelerator is engaged - any ideas on where to start?

You probably have a stripped brake drum/ hub. Remove the center cap and hub cap if any and look and see if the large but in the middle of the wheel is spinning. If it is, you need a new hub. Probably passenger side.

Very common problem and easy to fix.

Could be an equal opportunity hub. Jack the cart up, pull the rear wheels, have someone hold the brakes and the gas at the same time. One will spin. Also make sure the nuts are tightened to 140 ft lbs.

Nuke it just depends on what caused it to strip. Last one I helped someone fix had the right hub stripped. It was caused by the hooligans getting the cart to full speed and slamming on the brakes to make it slide in the sand. All the dirt I found in the fender wells was a dead give away. I asked my buddy if the kids were doing this and got silence for about 15 seconds. And then a yes. Little Tards !!

Makes me a big ol' Tard, though I use ice, not sand. Pretty friction-less compared with sand.

Just make sure to stop before the ice starts melting. I didn't and hit a wet (not frozen) patch, ended up on two wheels, and did a poor job of maintaining it. Kept it going long enough to crawl out from under a moving buggy closing in on my side. Broke some stuff. Not me. Passenger didn't fare so well, as his knee broke the steering tube - not shaft. Had crazy tilt steering 'til I fixed it.
