Default Battery Question - 2012 EZ-GO TXT 48

Need some input from the battery experts. Purchased my cart used just under 3 years ago from a cart wholesaler near Miami. It was refurbished and had new batteries. Batteries appear to be some type of generic, no brand, but they do have '07J16' and '875' stamped in the top.

Cart is 48V, six 8 volt batteries. Started having problems maintaining charge and also lost some performance.

Went through the batteries today and found one dead cell in one battery.

All cells except the dead cell were 1.3+ on the hydrometer. The dead cell registered nothing at all using two different hydrometers.

Voltages on the six batteries, one hour after charging were:
8.55
8.6
8.55
8.53
8.55
6.4

Two questions:
1. is there anything I can try to wake up the dead cell?
2. With the condition of the batteries based on the measurements above is it reasonable to just replace the one bad battery?

Thanks in advance. The batteries are a bit mysterious to me and there seems to be a lot of knowledge on this forum.

1. No. Dead is dead.

2. What is the individual battery voltages 12 Hours after charger shuts off?

At 1 hour after charging ceases, the batteries are still showing a surface charge and SoC cannot be determined from the voltage.

However, to answer the question, if you can find a used batter the same make and model as the others and about the same age, you might get another year or so out of the battery pack.

The batteries are charged in series and discharged in series, so the closer matched they are the better.

Thanks, that helps a lot. When not charging won't the bad battery discharge the good batteries? I'll check them after 12 hours but just want to know if I should expect that bad battery to pull the others down.

The bad battery cannot discharge the others, but it is currently preventing the others from ever getting a fair shot at a full charge. The bad battery voltage usually skyrockets when being charged, preventing enough time for the others from getting a full charge. The charger only knows the overall voltage of all the batteries in a string, it can't tell that a bad one showing high voltage doesn't accurately reflect the voltage of the others.
