Yewy charger in RXV
Hey All
I have a 2016RXV and just got a new Yewy charger from scottyb. Here's what I'd like to do. I'd like to mount the charger onboard and attach the charger input to the back off the existing charger receptacle and put the y plug on my old charger on the end of an extension cord. It looks like I can use the red, white and grey wire to connect to the positive, negative and ground wires on the charger 110v side. The only thing I'm not sure about is the blue wire on the back of the receptacle. I know it runs to the controller and is for the charger interlock. It looks like I can could disconnect the blue wire and bypass the interlock. My only concern is does the blue wire do anything else, and will disconnecting it cause bad voodoo in the controller? Any thoughts? |

AC input does not have a positive or negative. It has a hot and a neutral, which switches rapidly back and forth in polarity at the frequency rate (60 HZ) of the AC power. The charger port has a PC board imbedded in epoxy. That board operates from 48 VDC from the battery pack and sends +48V through that blue wire to the controller as a charger connected/not connected logic signal. First off, connecting 120 VAC to that charge port connector will smoke the PCB, starting a fire/tripping the breaker, and will fry your controller if left as-is! You cannot remove the PCB, and the epoxy structure is required to support the pins. Just order the charger socket for a E-Z-GO 2Five. It has a 120 VAC connector for an onboard charger, and is made to fit the charger socket hole. Bob |
