Tomberlin Emerge slow with burning smell
Our 2008 Emerge was just taken out of the garage and run by the wife (just coincidence). Had been on charge for the winter. It will now only run about 11 mph. It makes a strange noise from the area of the motor or rear gears. I also noticed when you hit the throttle it felt like it skipped once maybe before starting to move. After going a block or so, I smelled a burning electrical smell. Didn't see smoke or where it came from. Where do I start trouble shooting? Is this a motor going bad?

You might want to check the brushes inside the motor.

That may be beyond my knowledge. Is it hard to do?

Stuck motor brushes would be my guess too.
I think it is an easy fix, but Ive done a couple of hundred No parts required, but you need to be gentle. |

It isn't that difficult if you're mechanically inclined and have basic tools.
