I'd Spend the money on upgrades,
you have a 4 passenger , good upgradable frame , with 6x8---8v battery rack.
( Good batts ? )
Can do it a step at a time or all at once
...
Plus the fun & learning by doing it yourself (Priceless). :)

So, it sounds like keeping/upgrading seems to be the route to take. I am interested for sure in the setup mentioned above by TahoeDawg. I assume I can contact you about that on a pm? In the mean time, I did a quick search on the high speed magnet, looks like a simple install?

The batteries appear to be fine, they are less than a year old, however they are from Sams Club??
