http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...s-xe70x-2.html I have a Polaris 500 and the dry weight is supposedly 715 pounds. Add gas and my 200 pound fat *** on it and you're looking at 915 plus pounds. I've driven that atv on and off using the ramps I own without an issue. |

Re: 1995 Medalist weight
My ramps worked perfectly and me and my two brothers just pushed the cart up the ramps and into the back of my pickup. I'm just hoping the ride up goes as smooth. I put a ratchet strap across the seat so it doesn't blow off, opened the windshield and put a ratchet strap across the roof, just in case. Heading upstate Friday morning. This is almost as tall as my sons basketball hoop, I hope there aren't any low overpasses

Re: 1995 Medalist weight
I don't have any experience with this, but do you know the weight rating for the wire ropes that hold your tailgate? I'm sure the actual tensile strength is crazy high, but the connections and/or tailgate may have a rating? Dunno.
If more weight is on the rear wheels, that's only a little more than half of the buggie. I'm just thinking about a big bump. |

Re: 1995 Medalist weight
When you drive up make sure the ramps are secured so they won't kick out from the back wheels turning.
Also, I don't know what it is rated for but that that is a small looking cable on that tailgate. I don't have one because I use a trailer, but some of the guys in here have those support things for the tailgate. Most of your weight is at the rear of the cart. |

Re: 1995 Medalist weight
The cart is already on and the ramps were secured to the rear bumper so they didn't kick out. I ended up pushing it on, so there would be no real force trying to kick the ramps out.

Re: 1995 Medalist weight
In post #22 you said you hope the "ride up" goes just as smooth. I thought you meant driving it on in the future.

Re: 1995 Medalist weight
If I had to take MY brother with me every time I loaded the cart I would just stay at home.

Re: 1995 Medalist weight
I agree. I built this cart to use upstate for hunting, so that's going to be it's new home. I don't foresee myself transporting it again for a long time, so it was just easier to ask my brothers for help this one time. Now if I was transporting this cart back and forth on a regular basis, I would have a system in place that would allow me to winch the cart into the bed of the truck or just load it on my trailer.
