Yewy uy1200z AC amp draw?

Hello all, I live in an area subject to power safety shut offs AKA Northern Calif.
I have an inverter generator 1700 running watts 2200 peak watts.

The UY1200z shows 110 vac input and 48 v 20amps output.
does the formula volts X amps = watts work the same AC or DC?

48v x 20 Amps = 960 watts if that is true then my little generator could power
the charger.

Don't know how to figure and do not have the tools to read peak/surge watts of the charger starting up.

Wow, socialist state of cali is like that?

The stated input volts X the input amps should be the input watts. Unless the "power factor" is super-nasty, you shouldn't have to worry about Pg&e knocking on your door. Man, I sure hope we won't all soon be living under that type of rule! Wow, crazy!

When I was young the power companies handled this a different way. The rates you paid for energy were based on the time of the day. Peak hours obviously cost more than off hours. Some appliances were programmed to operate based on those cost figures.

The "Public Safety Power Shutoff" is about help preventing wild fires by de-energizing transmission lines in areas prone to fire during certain conditions.

A 1600+ watt generator should work fine but if you have issues and your generator has an "ECO" mode you will need to disable it depending on the PF of the charger.

Thanks, and the generator does have an eco switch it pretty much stays in the off position.

As for Calif it is a mess ……….. well that is whole different forum
