Since you just upgraded to 2ga. cables with I am assuming 5/16 lugs you could carefully open up the holes to 3/8 with a step drill or file. I have done this on both my carts as needed. If your H/D F/R is not from Scotty you might need a new switch or reversing contactor.

Some of this is not so easy to answer. On one hand you have a modest 450 amp control. On the other hand you have a potentially high amp custom motor. It would really help to know from Chuck (EMP) what this motor will draw under the load of hauling 4 adults up a steep hill and at full speed. (find out for us)

One of the problems I see often is people say I don't need the biggest component because it's usually just me on the cart....And then they say but, once a year I haul 3 buddies up a mountain at a dry camp where we can charge the batteries much
If you do not build the cart for the toughest day it will see, it will fail on (or soon after) that day.
The same holds true for people who want the fastest cart in the neighborhood and oh yeah, they pull a float in the parade once a year too.

All of the current going from the batteries to the motor goes through the F&R device in a series cart. The F&R device is the weakest link and it often burns up a contact or two. I had customers with stock carts burning up hauling heavy loads on hills. A HD F&R will have thicker buss bars which will dissipate heat faster than stock. If a cart is marginally ok then this is often enough to solve the problem. If a cart is upgraded to 48v the amperage use goes down and so does the heat in all of the components, this goes a long way to solving heat problems in everything from motors to solenoids and F&Rs.

Thank you all for your input. I guess it all leaves me with this question. Due to the area that has more hills than my previous flat road area should I just bite tha bullet an upgrade to 48 volts? I was planning on waiting until around April or May but seeing as I need to invest in a new solenoid and the comments on less amps and heat being produced. I have an alltrax axe7245 controller, now replacing the heavy duty f&r with a new one ( place is exchanging it at no charge) 23 in tires and 14 inch wheels and 2 gauge cables all around on the 2000 txt series cart. What recommendations would you provide for me to do this conversion? Solenoid sw180 48 volt? Type of charger and connector? Chuck at EMP had said a couple months ago my motor would be fine on 48 so is there anything else i would need?
